Melanie + Thomas – Western Inspired Engagement Photography Session

I’m truly blessed to do what I do. I know that it may sound like a “cliché”, but the honest truth is that there is something special about capturing the love that exists between couples. The days and months leading up to the wedding, the anticipation of the “big day”, all bring out these magical emotions that I know won’t always be there, however they will be forever captured to remind us of how we felt.

Melanie and Thomas are a young and madly in love couple that just couldn’t keep their eyes off one another. This was an extra special engagement photography session for me because Thomas is my brother-in-law’s brother. It was amazing spending more time with him and Melanie. What was also AMAZING was the location we chose to use for the engagement photography session. Thomas’ parents own a farm, and Thomas spent countless hours running around and jumping on the hay stacks with his brothers and sisters. Now the farm isn’t used for what it was before, but nevertheless the barn is still standing and, boy, was it ever a photographer’s dream. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Christine + Felix | Downsview Park | Columbus Event Centre | La Primavera Toronto

One of the amazing things about our work is that we get to photograph all types of weddings, go to all kinds of locations, and experience all sorts of rituals first-hand. In this case, we had the opportunity to shoot Christine and Felix’s contemporary wedding, which happened at Columbus Event Centre in Toronto, with a stop at Downsview Park before going to the reception at La Primavera. These are straightforward facts, and they’re all true, but what’s more important is the things that are more difficult to accurately describe: the sense of anticipation as Christine sat on the bed looking at her dress before getting ready, the playfulness of Felix and his groomsmen, the emotion when they finally saw each other – the big reveal! – and then that moment when they both officially became husband and wife. How do you tell the story of why someone falls in love, of what compels them to tell the whole world about it? I’ve attempted to do it in images here, and hope that this selection of photographs can convey, in some tenuous way, the sheer beauty of this awesome couple’s big day.

Christine and Felix, many, many congrats, I hope you have as much fun for the rest of your marriage as you did on your wedding day!

Always exciting to be featured by our friends at the Wedding Co. blog. This time, we’ve had the chance to showcase Ewa and Alex’s rustic, DIY wedding at the Old Springer House. Wow, so many beautiful things: we loved all the different off-white dresses worn by the bridesmaids, the awesome tree-trunk centrepieces made by Ewa’s father, the edamame bean field (I think?) at the Old Springer House (one of our new favourite venus) and the gorgeous weather! Lindsey + Jorge | The Wedding Day Film

As I was writing this post, I came across this quote on Pinterest: “The couples that are ‘meant to be’ are the ones who go through everything that is meant to tear them apart and come out even stronger than they were before.” For Lindsey and Jorge, for a part of their relationship, that hurdle, that obstacle, was distance. They met at work, fell in love, and then things got tricky, with Jorge having to return for Mexico and Lindsey staying here. But their love was strong, and, with the support of their family, they eventually managed to get everything sorted out and tie the knot. And I was lucky enough to cover their beautiful and sunny wedding day with Bowen. Lindsey and Jorge are people you can’t not like: joyful and caring, they welcomed us as if we were family, right from the beginning. And so when I sent Lindsey the video and she admitted it made her tear up, we felt good, like we’d actually successfully captured, in some little, simple way, a bit of what their love is about. I really hope you guys have a beautiful life as husband and wife… and we look forward to sending you anniversary gifts now and then!

Winnie + Jason | Ancaster Old Mill | Toronto Wedding

Been very excited about sharing these images from Winnie and Jason’s wedding for a while now. These two lovebirds both went to Queen’s University, and eventually met at Telus in Toronto (hence why we did their engagement session there). Now, four years and one Bermuda proposal later, they’ve finally tied the knot!

Full-of-life, fun-and-quirky, food-loving Winnie and Jason’s beautiful wedding day took place at the Old Mill in Ancaster, with a stint at Tiffany Falls for some couple photos. Together with Marek, I had a wonderful time photographing their special day, one that was filled with beautiful sunlight, candid moments, and a whole lot of yellow – seriously, check out those groomsmen socks and yellow ‘bridal’ boots!

One of the really fun things about doing what we do in this day and age is that it’s become so easy to share ideas and images. Not only our own stuff, but other people’s as well! And so a few months back, Paul and myself joined Pinterest and started pinning away, and getting inspired. There really is so much beautiful stuff on there!

When I started really getting into it, I thought: wow, this is neat for me to keep track of what I like, but it would also be a great way to share resources, tips, tricks, and other things, with our couples. And so for the past little while, I’ve been telling everyone about those awesome boards of ours. We hope you enjoy them, and that, who knows, maybe some of the things you see on there make it into your wedding!

Warning: Pinterest is seriously addictive! It can consume you, and you may find yourself pinning in the middle of the night to try and combat insomnia. But don’t be fooled: you can never pin enough, it’s like a bottomless pit… of awesomeness!

Marsha + John | Wedding Highlights Film, as featured on the Wedding Co Blog

We’ve been excited about posting this one on the blog for a while because, quite honestly, we think these are some of the nicest wedding video images we’ve made since launching One² Film a few months back. Marsha and John were such an amazing couple and, when their edit turned out even better than we expected, we thought ‘wow, this needs to be shared’. A few emails later, when our friend over at The Wedding Co. proposed to feature the edit on their blog the following day, we were totally stoked!

All in all, I guess all I wanted to do with this blog post is communicate our level of excitement about Marsha and John’s wedding highlights film; they’re amazing people, we wish them all the best, and hope that these images of their classy, green, and contemporary wedding will wow you as much they wow-ed us. Darlene + Toni | Atlantis Pavillions | Toronto Wedding

I’m pleased to share Darlene and Toni’s wedding day! Darlene looked absolutely stunning in her Alfred Sung wedding dress, and her parents’ house offered the perfect atmosphere for Darlene to get ready. We did the reveal right outside the front steps of the house and then headed off to Atlantis for the ceremony, photo shoot and reception. It was incredibly hot during the rooftop ceremony, but the view of downtown Toronto was spectacular from up there. Designing Trendz did an amazing job decorating the venue and the 100% gourmet vegan 5 course meal not only looked impressive but it was also incredibly scrumptious. Bongo and B provided some great entertainment throughout the night.

Again, we wanted to Congratulate the both of you!!
